Ethiopian Airlines, Africa’s largest airline, today began its flights to Port Sudan.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Sudanese officials and executives from Ethiopian Airlines. This investment by Ethiopian Airlines is expected to play a significant role in enhancing regional connectivity and promoting trade and tourism.
Following this development, Ethiopian Airlines now has routes to both Khartoum and Port Sudan. Port Sudan is known for its beautiful beaches and important commercial ports. Therefore, the investment in Port Sudan is expected to greatly facilitate travel for both business and leisure passengers.
One of Ethiopian Airlines’ main goals is to improve connectivity across the continent. The airline has previously invested in hubs such as Togo, Malawi, and Zambia to achieve this aim. Ethiopian Airlines aspires to be among the top 20 airlines in the world by 2035 and is already gaining recognition for its quality of service.
During the opening ceremony, Mesfin Tasew, Group CEO of Ethiopian Airlines, stated:
“We keep growing our network in Africa to provide seamless air connectivity while fostering commerce and tourism within the continent and beyond. With the launch of this flight today, we are opening a new chapter of connectivity in East Africa and the entire continent. We are bringing the world closer to Sudan and creating a stronger economic link to businesses.”
