On September 20, a truck carrying vital medical supplies for Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) was confiscated at a checkpoint manned by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in Al Shigig, located in the White Nile state. MSF expressed deep concern for the safety of the driver, who has been unaccounted for since October 7.
The vehicle was en route to Kosti, where MSF provides crucial healthcare services to individuals displaced by the ongoing conflict in Sudan. According to MSF, the truck was compliant with all necessary documentation and permits.
“The confiscation of humanitarian supplies is completely unacceptable,” stated Juan Carlos Cano, the head of MSF’s mission. “We call on the RSF to return the truck and its medical cargo immediately and to provide updates regarding the driver’s condition.”
Since July, MSF has reported a suspension of aid deliveries in White Nile state, resulting in health facilities being deprived of essential medical supplies.
The ongoing conflict in Sudan has precipitated one of the most significant displacement crises in the world today.
