Senegalese national team midfielder Pape Matar Sarr scored the decisive goal that led Tottenham to victory against Manchester City.
As a result, Spurs advanced to the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup, where they will face Manchester United, who triumphed over Leicester with a score of 5-2.
Timo Werner was the first to score for Tottenham, finding the back of the net with a beautiful strike in the fifth minute to make it 1-0. Shortly after, Pape Sarr took center stage and doubled the lead with a superb right-footed shot from outside the box, bringing the score to 2-0.
Tottenham suffered a setback when Micky van de Ven had to leave the field due to injury in the 14th minute. However, Manchester City responded in the fourth minute of first-half stoppage time with a goal from Matheus Nunes.
Following this victory, Tottenham regained their morale after a disappointing loss to Crystal Palace in the league. They have taken an important step towards lifting a trophy that has eluded them since 2008.
The match against Manchester United is set to take place on December 16.
