The Zambia women’s national football team has advanced to the final of the HollywoodBets 2024 COSAFA Women’s Championship by eliminating last year’s champion, Malawi.
In a match held at the Isaac Wolfson Stadium in South Africa, Zambia scored twice while keeping a clean sheet. Malawi, who defeated Zambia 2-1 in last year’s final, fell short this time as Zambia claimed their revenge with goals from Ochumba Oseke and Fridah Mukoma.
“We thank God for the victory. Going into the game, we knew it would not be easy. Seeing how Malawi positioned themselves in the midfield, we realized their strategy was to prevent us from creating spaces, so we started a bit cautiously and almost held back,” said a Zambian player.
Following this victory, Zambia will face South Africa in the final, as South Africa advanced after defeating Mozambique in a penalty shootout.
