England-born defender Gabriel Osho is aiming to make his debut for Nigeria’s national team.
He joined the preparation camp ahead of the final two group stage matches against Benin and Rwanda. The Auxerre centre-back is one of eight defenders called up to the squad.
Osho was initially called up in March, but an injury forced him to withdraw. This time, he was able to rejoin the squad, stepping in for West Brom player Semi Ajayi, who is currently sidelined with an injury.
At 26 years old, Osho may don the Super Eagles jersey for the first time on November 14 in the match against Benin.
Nigeria needs only one point to secure their place in the next stage, and a victory would guarantee them the top spot in the group.
Though born in England, Osho chose to represent Nigeria and has demonstrated his commitment by arriving at camp early.
The first call-up for Osho came from former Nigeria coach Finidi George, but he was unfortunately injured just at that time.
Now fully fit, he will compete for a starting spot with seasoned defenders like Calvin Bassey, William Troost-Ekong, and new invitee Victor Collins.
