At Tanzania’s first energy investment summit in Dar es Salaam, key industry leaders and policymakers gathered to discuss Tanzania’s growing potential as an energy hub in East Africa. Herman Zaidin, managing director of HBZ International, highlighted the impact of the Julius Nyerere Hydroelectric Power Project (JNHPP) in positioning the country for regional energy prominence.
The summit, organized by HBZ International and the Tanzania Association of Oil Marketing Companies (TAOMAC), showcased investment opportunities and featured discussions on public-private partnerships, sustainability, and regulatory frameworks. The event brought together major stakeholders, including TPSF, TANTRADE, and the Tanzania Investment Centre.
Raphael Mgaya, TAOMAC’s executive director, emphasized the importance of aligning public and private efforts to achieve sustainable energy growth. Echoing this sentiment, Raphael Maganga from TPSF underscored the role of collaborative investments in advancing Tanzania’s energy landscape.
Panel discussions, moderated by Dr. Fayaz Bhojani and Salim Baabde, explored strategies for sustainability in energy investment, featuring contributions from key figures like Marsha Msuya of TotalEnergies and Noel Shiyo of CNS Group. The summit reinforced Tanzania’s commitment to shaping a resilient energy future that balances economic growth with environmental responsibility.
