At least 11 people were killed and several others injured in inter-clan clashes over grazing land in Labi Ano, east of Dhusamareeb, Galmudug’s capital, on Sunday. The violence has forced numerous families to flee, adding to the growing displacement crisis.
Similar clashes have been reported in other regions, including Bay, Gedo, and Lower Shabelle. Reports from Gedo’s Luuq district reveal that extensive displacement has occurred as residents escape escalating conflicts in the area.
Despite the urgent need for intervention, the Galmudug administration has not yet addressed the recent incident. Local communities are urging authorities and elders across the affected regions to mediate and halt the violence.
The recurring disputes over resources and territory emphasize the ongoing struggles with inter-clan rivalries across Somalia’s regions, highlighting the critical need for sustainable conflict resolution mechanisms.
