In Rabat, Abdeltif Loudyi, the Minister Delegate for National Defense, welcomed General Kassoum Coulibaly, the Defense Minister of Burkina Faso, who was leading a delegation on an official visit.
The discussions focused on enhancing and diversifying cooperation between the two nations, particularly in security matters.
The visit culminated in the signing of a military cooperation agreement covering areas such as training, military exercises, expertise sharing, and military health partnerships.
Loudyi emphasized the significance of this collaboration, highlighting King Mohammed VI’s vision of transforming Africa’s Atlantic coast into a center of economic integration, stability, and prosperity.
Coulibaly also voiced his satisfaction with the partnership and underscored the importance of South-South and regional cooperation initiatives launched by the King.
The Burkinabe official highlighted that these initiatives have positioned Morocco as a proactive force in fostering stability, progress, and peace in its region, especially in Africa.
The two nations maintain strong diplomatic relations and are committed to furthering cooperation across various sectors.
Burkina Faso is among the growing number of African countries that support Morocco’s sovereignty and territorial integrity over its southern provinces in Western Sahara.
In June, Burkina Faso’s Foreign Affairs Minister Karamoko Jean Marie Traore expressed his country’s backing for Morocco’s autonomy plan during talks with Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita in Rabat.
Significantly, Burkina Faso is one of the countries that has established its consulate general in Morocco’s southern provinces of Dakhla and Laayoune, inaugurating its diplomatic mission on October 23, 2020.
