The fierce rivalry between the two strong teams of the South African League, Chiefs and Pirates, has seen Pirates take a significant lead this season.
A gap of 14 points has already opened up between the two teams. However, Kaizer Chiefs defender Given Msimango believes that this gap can still be closed.
“It’s a wide-open league in my opinion. Congratulations to Pirates, they’ve shown a good level of consistency, hence they are where they are – on top of the log. We must try to get to the same level if not better in terms of consistency, because we are happy with our performances despite the results,” he said.
Chiefs’ coach, Nasreddine Nabi, also noted that the team has struggled with injuries at the beginning of the season and that the international break was beneficial for them.
Kaizer Chiefs now aim to make a strong comeback in their upcoming match against Richards Bay.
