The U.S. Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Pamela Tremont, has called on the Zimbabwean government to fast-track political and financial reforms to ensure “prosperity and dignity” for its citizens. Her remarks came during discussions on restructuring the country’s growing debt.
Speaking at the event, Ambassador Tremont emphasized the United States’ commitment to supporting Zimbabweans and strengthening bilateral relations. “We are here today as part of our long-standing and consistent commitment to the people of Zimbabwe, advocating for reforms the international community has sought for many years,” she said.
Tremont also urged the government to respect fundamental rights, including freedom of assembly and speech, and called on public officials to refrain from using their positions for personal enrichment.
The U.S. has consistently advocated for governance and economic reforms in Zimbabwe as part of broader efforts to address the country’s challenges, including its rising debt burden.
