Following a football match in N’zérékoré, one of Guinea’s largest cities, chaos erupted, leading to the loss of many lives. Prime Minister Mamadou Oury Bah called for calm and confirmed that numerous fatalities occurred during the incident.
According to AFP News Agency, a doctor who wished to remain anonymous described the scene, stating, “Bodies lined up as far as the eye can see in the hospital.”
He added, “Others are lying on the floor in the hallways. The morgue is full.”
The incident reportedly began when supporters of the Labe team, upset over a referee’s decision, threw stones onto the field. Police intervened, but the situation escalated as fans stormed the pitch, resulting in further disorder.
So far, no official casualty figures have been released. Some videos circulating on social media appear to show unresponsive bodies at the scene, but none of these videos have been independently verified.
