Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty has announced plans to host a second forum for Sudanese political and civil forces, aiming to build on the progress achieved in the inaugural event held last July. During his visit to Sudan, Abdelatty emphasized Egypt’s commitment to supporting Sudan in resolving its internal conflict and restoring peace and stability.
“This gathering will include representatives from all political factions in Sudan. Egypt remains firm in its belief that Sudan’s solutions must come from within and should not be influenced by external interference,” Abdelatty stated. He added that Egypt is prepared to provide all necessary support to facilitate a Sudanese-led political solution that fosters a civil state.
Highlighting the historic ties between the two nations, Abdelatty described his meetings with Sudanese leaders as constructive and filled with mutual respect. He also delivered a message of solidarity from Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, the Chairman of Sudan’s Transitional Sovereignty Council. Abdelatty noted that Sudanese leaders expressed gratitude for Egypt’s efforts to assist Sudanese nationals residing in Egypt and for Cairo’s broader role in supporting Sudan during its time of crisis.
Turning to regional issues, Abdelatty addressed the ongoing violence in Gaza, condemning the escalation and calling for an immediate ceasefire. “Egypt is working diligently with Arab partners and international allies to halt the aggression and bring about peace,” he said, emphasizing the urgency of ending the violence.
The minister stressed that regional stability hinges on recognizing Palestinian rights and establishing a sovereign Palestinian state. “Force alone will not bring security. Lasting peace can only be achieved through justice for the Palestinian people,” he added.
The foreign minister’s visit underscores Egypt’s pivotal role in addressing both Sudan’s internal crisis and broader regional conflicts, reinforcing its position as a key mediator in the pursuit of peace and stability.
