China-based Gotion High-Tech has announced a €2.5 billion investment in battery production facilities in Morocco and Slovakia, marking a significant step in its expansion into North Africa and Europe.
For Morocco, the company will invest €1.28 billion to establish an advanced lithium battery production facility. The system will be gradually enhanced over the next five years and will play a strategic role in Morocco’s transition to sustainable energy.
The country’s strong industrial infrastructure and its position as a gateway to both European and African markets are the main reasons Gotion High-Tech chose to invest in Morocco. The facility will have an annual production capacity of 20 GWh and will be capable of producing high-performance batteries, making it possible to cater to both local and international markets.
Additionally, Morocco is expected to benefit economically from the project through job creation, technology transfer, and the development of the local industrial ecosystem. Green technology innovation in Morocco will be boosted by this project, attracting additional investments.
Through this investment, Gotion High-Tech aims to enhance its competitiveness in the global market.
