A group of Tanzanian peacekeepers has successfully completed their year-long deployment with the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA) and returned home.
During a reception at the Mapinga Military Training College in Bagamoyo District, Brigadier General George Itang’are praised the soldiers for their dedication and professionalism. Representing the Chief of Staff, Lieutenant General Salim Hajj Othman, he emphasized that the peacekeepers upheld Tanzania’s values of loyalty, courage, and trustworthiness while serving abroad.
The returning battalion, led by Lieutenant Colonel Joseph Mushilu, was awarded a certificate of recognition by the United Nations for their significant contributions to the mission. The acknowledgment highlights their bravery and commitment to fostering peace and stability in the Central African Republic.
Brigadier General Itang’are stated that the mission provided invaluable experience for the troops, contributing to character development and reinforcing their commitment to global peacekeeping efforts. He also noted that over 2,600 Tanzanian personnel are currently engaged in six UN peacekeeping missions, including protecting civilians and supporting stability in conflict zones.
The MINUSCA mission is part of a broader UN network addressing global conflicts, including operations in Western Sahara, South Sudan, and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Tanzania’s participation underscores its dedication to promoting international peace and security.
