Somali Federal Government forces, with support from the US military, carried out an airstrike in Lower Juba’s Beerhani area, eliminating ten Alshabab militants. The strike, announced on Sunday, targeted a gathering of militants 35 kilometers northwest of Kismayo.
According to Somalia’s Ministry of Information, the operation disrupted a planned attack by the group. The ministry stated that the strike “destroyed a group of Khawarij who intended to carry out a planned attack, preventing harm to the Somali people.”
The Somali and US governments reaffirmed their commitment to eradicating Alshabab and mitigating the group’s threats. Alshabab, an al-Qaeda-linked organization, continues to challenge security across Somalia, prompting intensified military efforts by Somali forces and international partners.
