The Sudanese army has advanced further in Omdurman, reclaiming areas controlled by the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and freeing three captured officers. Recent operations have significantly reduced RSF influence in the region.
The military confirmed taking over strategic positions in southern and western Omdurman, including Al-Shagla and parts of Al-Fitaihab, after intense clashes with RSF fighters. Video footage released by the army highlighted the dismantling of RSF outposts and the seizure of weapons depots and supplies.
According to Sudan Tribune, military sources reported that special forces advanced in Al-Fitaihab, capturing key blocks and the entrance to the Al-Muraba’at neighborhood. Additionally, they secured a vital road leading to Umbada’s eastern districts.
Brigadier General Nabil Abdallah stated that a special operation in Al-Fitaihab freed three officers, resulting in heavy RSF losses, including the death of a key commander.
In Umbada, a major battlefield, fierce fighting was reported on Al-Radmiya Street near Libya Market. Witnesses described the army’s progress in the 11th district, forcing RSF units to retreat to surrounding areas.
The RSF retains a presence in western Omdurman, particularly near Libya Market and Dar es Salaam, but its control has been significantly diminished. The Sudanese army continues to target RSF strongholds as part of ongoing efforts to reclaim contested territories since the conflict began in April last year.
