Percy Tau Parts Ways with Al Ahly
Percy Tau is set to leave Al Ahly, with his contract set to expire in six months. Al Ahly aims to ensure that both parties benefit from this transfer.
Tau is expected to receive close to 10 million South African Rand as payment for his current contract.
Tau joined Al Ahly in 2021, brought in by former Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane. The club had paid a significant amount to English Premier League side Brighton and Hove Albion for his transfer at the time.
Initially, when Tau expressed his desire to leave, Al Ahly created obstacles for him. However, the player threatened to report the club to FIFA, which accelerated the process.
Tau has two serious suitors. The first is South Africa’s strong club Kaizer Chiefs, while the second is Qatari league team Al-Gharafa. Although Kaizer Chiefs are keen to sign him, Tau’s transfer to Al-Gharafa seems more likely.
Tau has fought hard to secure his departure from Al Ahly, and it looks like he will succeed. The player delivered an impressive performance both in the Egyptian League and the CAF Champions League.
