One of the most senior and influential officers in the armed forces of Sudan claimed during his speech to the Sudanese National Media that General Abdulfetah Alburhan proposed to give up power.
The senior officer named General Yasir Abdelrahman Al-Atta spoke to the country’s television and said that Abdulfetah Al-Burhan expressed his desire to resign as the president of the country, wanting to resign and hand over to his deputy Shamsu-Din Kabashi.
A few days ago, when we met, al-Burhan said to me, “I have reached my limit, it is time for me to step down from my position, so agree with Shams-Din Kabashi, my deputy, so that we can transfer the position and power of the army to him.” said
I told him that this is not possible you will not resign until we defeat the RSF, said General Atta
Al Burhan, who took over the country with military force and a coup in 2019, has faced intense pressure from the international community as well as a lot of international criticism regarding the situation in Sudan and how he handled the conflict and the war with the RSF.
Al Atta said that the role of the Sudanese Armed Forces is not political, but it is to restore peace and stability in the country. Politicians, including the former Prime Minister of Sudan, Abdallah Hamdook, whom Al-Atta accused of supporting the RSF, will not have a role, he said .
We do not want to rule, I, al-Burhan and the entire National Assembly, but we want and dream of a day when Sudan achieves peace and stability and we transfer the rule of the country.
RSF is a “Bandit” Group.
General Al-atta will continue the war with the RSF, we have made a promise, they are a merciless gang, we will continue the war until they surrender or we eliminate them.
General Atta blamed the assassination attempt on him last week but failed on the Islamic Movement of Sudan.
General Al Atta’s comments come at a time when it is expected that the two leaders of Al-Burhan and Dagalo will meet in Geneva, Switzerland, in a dialogue led by the United States.
