Moatasem Al-Musrati Joins AS Monaco
Libyan defensive midfielder Moatasem Al-Musrati, who played for Beşiktaş, one of the biggest clubs in the Turkish Süper Lig, has completed a move to AS Monaco.
The 28-year-old Libyan player has joined the French club on loan with a purchase option, strengthening Monaco‘s squad on the final day of the transfer window.
From Libya to European Football
Al-Musrati began his career at Al-Ittihad Tripoli, one of the most successful clubs in Libya. His first move to Europe came when he signed for Vitória Guimarães in Portugal. Initially a rotation player, he worked hard and eventually earned his place in the first team.
During his three seasons at Vitória Guimarães, he made 55 appearances and spent the second half of the 2019-2020 season on loan at Rio Ave.
Breakthrough and Success at Braga
Al-Musrati truly showcased his abilities at Braga, where he played 151 matches over four seasons. Despite being a defensive midfielder, he managed to score 15 goals and provide 8 assists.
During his time at Braga, he won the Portuguese Cup in 2021 and the Allianz Cup in 2023. His performances earned him recognition as one of the best midfielders in the Portuguese league.
Move to Beşiktaş and Turkish Cup Heroics
In February 2024, Al-Musrati joined Beşiktaş on loan, and the club made his transfer permanent in July 2024. With Beşiktaş, he played 38 matches and scored 3 goals.
