Google has decided to increase the monthly subscription fee for its 100GB Google Drive storage plan from ₦950 Naira to ₦1,900 Naira in Nigeria.
This new pricing will take effect on March 28, 2025. Google had previously announced that, starting February 18, 2025, it would raise prices in several select countries, including Nigeria.
Other affected African countries include Ghana, Tanzania, and Egypt.
This price hike, which doubles the current cost, was communicated to customers by Google in the following notification:
“The price will automatically increase to ₦1,900/month on March 28, 2025, for your Google One subscription. You can cancel at any time through Google Play.”
Although Google has not provided a specific reason for the price hike, it is believed that rising operational costs and fluctuations in exchange rates may have contributed to the decision.
Recently, in Nigeria, the paid TV provider Multichoice raised the prices of DSTV and GOtv plans by 21%, while telecom operators such as MTN and Airtel also implemented tariff increases.
