Mozambique’s Defence Minister, Cristóvão Chume, met with the ambassadors of France and Egypt on Tuesday to discuss strengthening military cooperation.
French Ambassador Yann Pradeu reaffirmed his country’s commitment to supporting Mozambique’s security. He highlighted France’s role in the European Union Assistance Mission to Mozambique (EUMAM), which provides training and non-lethal equipment to the Mozambican Armed Forces (FADM) in the fight against terrorism. Pradeu also congratulated Chume on his reappointment and pledged continued support.
In a separate meeting, Egypt’s Ambassador Mohamed Hassan Rafaat Aly Farghal emphasized Egypt’s commitment to defence cooperation. He expressed readiness to offer military training and expand collaboration in economic sectors through Mozambique’s Civil Service.
Chume thanked both countries for their support. He assured them that his team was ready to develop key areas of cooperation to enhance Mozambique’s security.
Mozambique’s partnerships with France and Egypt reflect its efforts to strengthen military readiness and regional stability.
