Morocco’s tourism sector is witnessing a strong surge, with nearly 2.7 million arrivals recorded at border posts by the end of February. This marks a 24/percent increase compared to the same period in 2024. According to the Ministry of Tourism, this growth adds 521,000 more visitors, reinforcing Morocco’s status as a global travel hotspot.
For the second consecutive month in 2025, Morocco has set new records in international arrivals. The country’s rising popularity is fueled by strategic marketing, better infrastructure, and efforts to attract both foreign tourists and Moroccans living abroad. In February alone, nearly 1.4 million visitors arrived, a 22/percent increase from the same month last year. Foreign arrivals rose by 18/percent, adding 119,000 tourists, while Moroccans returning from abroad grew by 26/percent, contributing 130,000 more entries.
Tourism Minister Fatim-Zahra Ammor welcomed the growth, stating that an additional half a million visitors in just two months reflects Morocco’s increasing appeal. She emphasized that each traveler boosts regional economies, creates jobs, and supports youth inclusion. This continued rise benefits the entire tourism industry and highlights the success of Morocco’s long-term strategy.
Morocco has also exceeded its tourism targets ahead of schedule. By the end of 2024, the country had welcomed 17.4 million visitors, surpassing its 2026 goal by two years. This achievement underscores the effectiveness of government policies aimed at making tourism a key driver of economic growth. To sustain this momentum, the Ministry of Tourism and the Moroccan Tourism Office are working on new initiatives. They are strengthening partnerships with global travel agencies and airlines while using digital platforms to increase Morocco’s visibility.
With its rich history, stunning landscapes, and modern attractions, Morocco continues to rise as a top African destination. As the country builds on its success, stakeholders remain committed to sustainable tourism, ensuring long-term benefits for local communities. Morocco’s ability to adapt and innovate will determine its position in the global travel industry. For now, the numbers tell a clear story—Morocco’s tourism boom is showing no signs of slowing down.
