Serhou Guirassy started his career at Laval in France, where he scored only 6 goals in 29 appearances during the 2014-15 Ligue 2 season.
Despite interest from QPR and Leeds in England, he chose to transfer to Lille. However, after only three Ligue 1 appearances, he was loaned out to Auxerre, where he made an impact, scoring 8 goals in 16 matches.
First Step in Germany and Köln Years
Guirassy transferred to Köln in Germany, but his time there was plagued by injuries.
The club, recognizing his health issues, negotiated a lower fee of 4 million euros for his transfer. Due to these injuries, Guirassy played only 21 Bundesliga matches and scored just 4 goals during his time at Köln.
Return to France and Amiens Years
After his struggles in Germany, Guirassy returned to France and found success at Amiens.
During his time at Amiens, top clubs like West Ham, Aston Villa, Leicester, Bournemouth, Brighton, and Tottenham showed interest, but he chose to stay at Amiens, despite the club being relegated to Ligue 2.
Transfer to Rennes
In 2020, Guirassy moved to Rennes for 15 million euros. During his two seasons there, he scored a total of 25 goals, attracting attention from bigger clubs.
He later returned to Germany, joining Stuttgart on loan. At Stuttgart, he scored 14 goals in all competitions, and the club decided to make his transfer permanent for 9 million euros.
Rising to Prominence at Stuttgart and Bundesliga Performance
In the 2023-24 season, Guirassy had an outstanding year, scoring 30 goals in 30 matches in the Bundesliga.
He finished second in the top scorer race behind Harry Kane and helped Stuttgart finish second in the league, just behind Bayer Leverkusen. During this period, he also earned a call-up to the Guinea national team.
Transfer to Borussia Dortmund and Champions League Success
Last summer, despite interest from clubs like Manchester United and Newcastle United, Guirassy moved to Borussia Dortmund. Dortmund activated his release clause of 17.5 million euros to secure his services.
So far, he has scored 24 goals in 34 matches for Dortmund, including goals against teams like Club Brugge, Celtic, Barcelona, Bologna, Shakhtar, and Sporting Lisbon in the Champions League.
