The International Organization for Migration (IOM) has warned that more than 30 million people in Sudan are in dire need of humanitarian assistance as the country’s crisis worsens.
Mohamed Refaat, head of the IOM Mission in Sudan, stated on X, that cholera outbreaks and other health emergencies are aggravating the situation, putting millions at further risk. He stressed the urgent need for funding to support humanitarian efforts and reach affected communities.
Sudan has been embroiled in conflict since April 2023, with fighting between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) causing over 20,000 deaths and displacing 15 million people, according to UN and local reports. However, research from US universities suggests the actual death toll could be around 130,000.
