CAF Champions League winner Percy Tau has been recalled to the South Africa squad ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Additionally, centre-back Thabo Moloisane has also been called up and will feature in the qualifiers against Lesotho and Benin.
Tau was previously left out of the squad for the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers in September, October, and November.
In fact, his last appearance for the national team was in June 2024, when South Africa faced Nigeria in a World Cup qualifier.
Meanwhile, Moloisane has been in exceptional form for Stellenbosch and will continue representing his club in the CAF Confederation Cup quarter-finals.
Midfielder Jayden Adams, who was dropped from the squad in October 2024 due to disciplinary reasons, has now been recalled. His return follows his transfer from Stellenbosch to South African champions Mamelodi Sundowns.
Additionally, backup goalkeeper Sage Stephens, centre-back Rushwin Dortley, and winger Devon Titus have all been dropped from the squad.
South Africa will face Lesotho on March 21 in the World Cup qualifiers, followed by a match against Benin four days later. Currently, they are at the top of Group C with 7 points, sharing the lead with Rwanda and Benin.
