Following a public tip, Indian police have freed 17 East African women from a prostitution ring in Hyderabad area. Out of the 17, two are from Uganda, one is from Tanzania, and fourteen are from Kenya, according to Indian media.
Three people were taken into custody by the police Anti-Human Trafficking Unit after they stormed a Kondapur home and are suspected of running the operation. The cops found cash, four cell phones, 25 HIV kits, sex toys, and 104 condoms after searching the house.
According to the publication, the ring leader sent the women across various Indian cities after luring them in using social media applications.
“He ran his prostitution ring by uploading the profiles to a section he set up on the classified ads website “Locanto.” The women have been traveling through several cities, including Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Delhi, and Mumbai, according to the police, who were cited by The Hindu newspaper.
The women allegedly entered India on medical and tourist visas.
Even after their visas expired, a few of the ladies continued to reside in the nation. The prostitution ring is thought to have made between Ksh. 4,602 and Ksh. 30,682 from its patrons.
