On the fringes of the Forum on China-Africa collaboration in Beijing on Friday, the Military Industry Corporation of Sudan and Poly Technologies of China inked a strategic collaboration agreement in defense.
The media for the Sovereign Council claims that the deal will support and maintain Sudan’s defense and security preparedness.
The initial round of raids by the Rapid Support Forces in April 2023 resulted in destruction and looting at many state-owned MIC locations in Khartoum.
Sudan also inked contracts with China Machinery Engineering Corporation (CMEC) for the production of power.
In a news release, Sudan’s Minister of Energy and Oil stated that the country’s electrical infrastructure needs to be developed immediately given the destruction the conflict caused.
Resolute in putting an end to rebellion
Chinese President Xi Jinping met with Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, the head of the Sovereign Council, during the forum.
In a statement following the meeting, Al-Burhan told Xi that Sudan was determined to put an end to the Rapid Support Forces militia’s “rebellion.” He also lauded China’s military assistance and security measures for Sudan.
Al-Burhan cited China’s pro-Sudan positions in international fora and expressed Sudan’s eagerness to collaborate with China on establishing a strategic alliance
He reaffirmed the resolve of his nation to support Chinese investment activities.
The head of the Sovereign Council emphasized Sudan’s resolve to continue forward with putting an end to the uprising while thanking China for its security and military support.
“What Sudan faces is a massive plot supported by regional and international countries and organizations hostile to its security and stability,” he stated.
For his part, Xi emphasized that ties between China and Africa are enduring and have their roots deep in history.
He stated that his nation is keeping a close eye on the events in Sudan and is hoping for a speedy return of stability.
Xi stated that he was certain al-Burhan could resolve this issue and end the conflict.He said that he would not tolerate what he called outside meddling in Sudanese affairs and stated that his nation was prepared to stand by and help Sudan until it prospered and lived in peace.
He declared that his nation would provide 200 million Chinese Yuan to help individuals affected by the rain and flooding in Sudan.
