The FESTAC AFRICA Festival 2024, themed “Celebrating the Heartbeat of Africa: Culture, Unity, and Innovation,” drew participants from over 62 countries to Kisumu, Kenya. The event welcomed artists, entrepreneurs, and cultural ambassadors from across Africa and the diaspora.
This week-long celebration of African music, art, fashion, cuisine, and entrepreneurship provided a unique opportunity for cultural exchange and business networking, with TV BRICS as the media partner.
The festival’s opening ceremony featured speeches from notable leaders. Yinka Abioye, Chairman of FESTAC AFRICA, highlighted the festival’s importance for the continent, expressing a vision for increased collaboration and celebrating Africa’s rich heritage and innovation.
Prof. Anyang’ Nyong’o, Governor of Kisumu County, emphasized the festival’s role in enhancing Kisumu’s global reputation, showcasing the city’s ability to host large international events while generating job opportunities and supporting local businesses.
During the festival, discussions on investment opportunities led to various memoranda of understanding and partnerships. Additionally, FESTAC AFRICA partnered with medical professionals and health organizations to provide vital health services, resulting in over 1,000 free health screenings and educational sessions for participants and the local community.
As a prominent cultural and business festival, FESTAC AFRICA addresses critical social issues like gender equality, climate change, and health, while promoting Africa as a center for innovation, trade, and tourism globally.
