20-year-old Kennedy Nkwain is chasing a challenging dream: he wants to become an NBA player.
Despite not having access to many modern training tools, a young Cameroonian with the dream of wearing a Lakers jersey doesn’t see this as an obstacle. Using tires, bottles, and the natural environment, Kennedy continues to work hard despite all the odds.
Neither the scorching heat nor the rain can hinder his hard work. In fact, during times of conflict between soldiers and rebels, he can even throw himself into a safe area and continue training.
Transforming an old storage room into a gym, Kennedy refuses to back down from chasing his dream, even as some acquaintances join the rebels.
Almost every day, the Cameroonian who never fails to share his training videos has reached 3 million followers on TikTok and 1 million on Instagram. In fact, he has even caught the attention of one of the biggest NBA stars, Stephen Curry, who follows him.
Despite his success on social media, the goal he aims to achieve is still very high. Only 0.00167% of basketball players in America make it to the NBA. Globally, this percentage is even lower.
He is aware of this reality, but he continues to work hard without letting it discourage him.
