Egypt’s foreign ministry firmly denied claims made by Rapid Support Forces (RSF) leader Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, known as Hemetti, accusing Egypt of aiding the Sudanese army in the ongoing conflict in Sudan.
Hemetti, in a recorded video, alleged that Egyptian aircraft had launched attacks on RSF positions in central Sudan, further claiming that similar strikes had occurred in Omdurman. He also accused Egypt of supplying the Sudanese military with fighter jets and missiles.
In a prompt response, Egypt’s foreign ministry rejected the accusations, urging the international community to investigate and verify the claims made by the RSF leader.
“These allegations surface despite Egypt’s active efforts to halt the war, safeguard civilians, and bolster international support for humanitarian aid initiatives,” the ministry emphasized in its statement.
The statement further underscored Egypt’s dedication to Sudan’s security, stability, and unity, reaffirming its commitment to assisting the Sudanese people through peaceful means.
The conflict between the Sudanese army and the RSF, which began in April 2023, has led to a severe humanitarian crisis, with millions displaced. Around 1.2 million Sudanese have fled to Egypt, while another 2.3 million have sought safety in neighboring countries.
