Mohammed Kallon, who played as a forward for Inter and AS Monaco, has been appointed as the head coach of Sierra Leone.
The Sierra Leone Football Federation presented this appointment as part of the “Concept 2027” initiative.
Kallon stated that it is an honor for him to serve his country in this way:
“I accept this job because it is for my country. It was not an easy decision; there were many factors to consider. However, here we are,” Kallon said.
“I am honored to serve Sierra Leone. My love for my country drives me to take on this important responsibility.”
The legendary player, who earned 39 caps for the national team, also served as the captain. His first task as head coach will be leading his team in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
He will play his first match in this role against Guinea-Bissau. If they win, they will climb to second place in their group.
