Acting Inspector General of Police Gilbert Masengeli has placed eight officers under interdiction from the National Police Service due to the escape of Collins Jumaisi, the major suspect in the Kware killings, along with twelve other suspects.
Masengeli stated that among those fired and being held by the police as a result of the early Tuesday morning prison break are the commander of Gigiri Sub-county, the Officer Commanding Station (OCS), and report officers.
The incident was referred to by Masengeli as “an inside job.”
The head of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), Amin Mohamed, and Deputy Inspector General Eliud Langat of the Kenya Police Service, among other personnel, flanked the head of police.
They conducted a security operation within the station and investigated the disappearance of the suspects. Masengeli declared that the search is underway and that he is confident they will be found. In order to provide the investigators with further information about the incident, the cops stated that they were watching the CCTV tape.
Police displayed Jumaisi in front of the media and claimed he had confessed to murdering at least 42 women and disposing of their bodies in Kware between 2022 and 2024. This led to Jumaisi making headlines.
They said he had acknowledged that his wife was his first victim, that he had slain her by strangulation, mutilated her body, and dumped her remains at the landfill.
Later, the suspect testified in court that he was tortured by the police and coerced into confessing to the killings.
