Week 3 of the CAF Confederation Cup group stage delivered thrilling matches.
In Group A, Angolan side Bravos do Maquis faced Algerian team CS Constantine in a game that featured five goals.Bravos do Maquis took the lead in the 17th minute with a penalty converted by Jo Paciencia. Just four minutes later, Francis scored a stunning goal to double their advantage.
However, the second half saw a resurgence from CS Constantine. Dadi El Hocine Moukai reduced the deficit in the 63rd minute, and Laid Chahine Bellaouel equalized in the 79th minute. In the dying moments of the match, Celio scored from outside the box to secure a dramatic victory for Bravos do Maquis.
In the other Group A clash, Tunisian team Sfaxien faced Tanzanian side Simba. Sfaxien took an early lead through Haj Hassen, but Simba’s Denis Kibu turned the game around with two goals, including a last-second strike, giving Simba a 2-1 win. In the group standings, all teams except Sfaxien have 6 points, while Sfaxien remains without a point, keeping the competition intense.
In Group B, Moroccan side RS Berkane played against Malian team Stade Malien. Despite a strong performance by goalkeeper N’golo Traore, RS Berkane broke the deadlock in the 86th minute through Issoufou Dayo and claimed the win.
In the group’s other game, South African side Stellenbosch edged past Angolan team CD Lunda Sul 1-0, thanks to a late goal from Devin Titus in the 89th minute. RS Berkane remains dominant in the group, having secured three wins in three matches and opening a gap with the other teams.
In Group C, USM Alger easily defeated ASEC Mimosas. Displaying superior gameplay, USM Alger won 3-0, with Abdelfetah Ismail Belkacemi scoring twice and Mohamed Ali Yaabre netting an own goal.
Meanwhile, Orapa United and Jaraaf played out a goalless draw. USM Alger leads the group with 7 points, maintaining their position at the top.
In Group D, two Egyptian teams, Zamalek and Pyramids, faced each other. Zamalek emerged victorious with a 1-0 win, courtesy of a superb goal by Zizo.
Elsewhere, Mozambican side Black Bulls triumphed over Nigerian team Enyimba with a convincing 3-0 scoreline. Ruma Akporoh, Fidel Helder De Sousa, and Francis Ayuba all found the back of the net for Black Bulls.
