Algerian Minister of State, Ahmed Attaf, arrived in Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia, on Sunday for an official visit as the special envoy of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune. The visit reflects a shared commitment to enhancing the tradition of consultation and coordination between Algeria and Ethiopia. During his stay, Attaf met with Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali, who later shared insights about their discussions on his X (formerly Twitter) account. Attaf also had meetings with Ethiopian President Taye Atseke Selassie and engaged in discussions with Ethiopian Foreign Minister Gedion Timothewos. The Algerian Minister’s visit comes amid growing relations between Ethiopia and Northern African countries like Algeria and Morocco, despite ongoing tensions with Egypt over the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD). This visit is part of efforts to strengthen bilateral ties and foster deeper collaboration between Algeria and Ethiopia.
