Ademola Olajade Lookman has made an impressive rise in both the Nigerian national team and Atalanta, attracting the attention of major clubs. Last year, he scored a hat-trick to lead his team to victory in the Europa League and reached the AFCON 2023 final with Nigeria.
The 26-year-old player spoke about the significant effort his mother put into shaping him into the man he is today. After winning the Europa League, Lookman celebrated his success with his mother, whom he affectionately calls “Superwoman,” and his childhood coach.
In an interview with Olt Sports, Lookman shared, “I lived with my mom and my sister. Growing up with them allowed me to understand women. My dad and my other sister were in Nigeria, in Lagos.
My mother did everything to not let it affect me. I was the only boy, and my family showed me a lot of love, always supported and protected me. As a child, if you don’t have a father or a mother around, it’s complicated. My mother created the best possible environment for my sister and me. Then my sister went to university. Mom was great.
She played a lot of different roles. I always called her Superwoman because she is an incredible woman. I will always be indebted to her.”
Lookman has been nominated for the Ballon d’Or this year, and if Atalanta can be persuaded, it seems likely he will make a big transfer this summer.
