The 5th matchday of the AFCON qualifiers group stage kicks off today. While some teams have already secured their place in the next stage, football fans may still be in for some surprising results before November 19.
The first match of the 5th matchday will be between Namibia and Cameroon. One of the most in-form players recently, Bryan Mbeumo, and Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana’s team, Cameroon, only dropped points in the group stage against Zimbabwe, where they drew.
Now, they will face Namibia, who have no points in the group. Cameroon will be aiming to win the match to top the group. Namibia, already eliminated from the tournament, may look to grab one final victory and leave their mark on the competition.
Another match will be between Togo and Liberia. Both teams will try to win this match, hoping that Equatorial Guinea loses. Their chances of advancing from the group are slim, and both teams are in desperate need of a football miracle.
Another team hoping for a loss from their rival is Sierra Leone. If they manage to win against Chad today, they will be tied on points with Zambia, who are in second place, with one match in hand. Ivory Coast, if they manage to beat Zambia, will have a 50-50 chance of advancing from the group.
