The AFCON Week 6 matches have concluded.
With a goal by Mouhamed Soueid in the 45+4th minute, Mauritania defeated Cape Verde, who had been reduced to 10 men after Kevin Lenini received a red card. This win gave Mauritania a chance to advance from the group, but they lost that chance when Botswana drew 1-1 with Egypt. Botswana’s goal came from Omaatla Kebatho, while Egypt’s equalizer was scored by Mahmoud Trezeguet with a shot from outside the penalty area. Thus, Botswana and Egypt progressed from Group C.
In Group K, Uganda and South Africa, who had already secured their spots in the next round, both claimed victories over their opponents. Uganda’s goal against the Republic of Congo was scored by Travis Mutyaba, while South Africa defeated South Sudan 3-0 with goals from Iqraam Rayners, Patrick Maswanganyi, and Teboho Mokoena.
In Group I, Mozambique defeated Guinea-Bissau to advance in the tournament. Guinea-Bissau’s lone goal came from Beto, while Mozambique’s goals were scored by Bruno Langa and Stanley Rafito.
In the other match, group leader Mali dominated Eswatini in a 6-0 victory. Nene Dorgles scored a hat-trick, with additional goals from Kamory Doumbia, El Bilal Toure, and Mamadou Doumbia, sending a strong message to Mali’s future opponents.
