Togo’s President Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé, emphasized Togo’s commitment to sustainable, equitable, and inclusive development that is visionary and prioritizes the well-being of present and future generations.
He stated that Africa, with its youthful population, holds potential to drive global growth, especially in blue and green economies, and renewable energy.
He stressed that Africa, though minimally contributing to climate change, faces severe vulnerability, resulting in food insecurity and potential migration.
“To counter these challenges, collective and coordinated international action is required, with a focus on peace, security, and economic development to address the root causes of violence and terrorism.” he stated.
He called for a more equitable model of international cooperation, respectful of African States, advocating for a rebalancing of global efforts and ensuring Africa’s voice is heard.
He stressed that respect for human dignity should guide actions, and urged a shift from disconnected international aid to more localized approaches, empowering local expertise.
He said that Togo is committed to contributing to multinational solutions, and Africa is ready to take its rightful role on the world stage, but demands respect and dignity.
