The highly anticipated Africa Media Festival will return for its third edition on February 26-27, 2025, at the Nairobi National Museum, Kenya. After two successful editions, the festival is set to once again unite media professionals, creatives, and innovators from across the continent to explore the future of African media.
The festival, affectionately dubbed “The Africa Media Village,” has grown in stature since its inception, drawing over 1,300 attendees and hosting more than 50 sessions and 120 speakers. The 2025 edition aims to build on this momentum by fostering a community-focused environment that encourages meaningful connections, collaboration, and learning.
Bridging Gaps, Connecting Media Futures
The central theme for the 2025 festival, “Bridging Gaps, Connecting Media Futures,” is a call to action for a more inclusive and connected media ecosystem in Africa. The theme highlights the need to address geographical, cultural, and technological barriers that currently limit the growth and potential of African media. Organizers are committed to ensuring that every voice is heard and that diverse perspectives from across the continent are valued.
“Through this festival, we aim to create a platform where voices from all corners of Africa, from rural creators to seasoned journalists, can come together,” said the festival’s lead organizer. “We want to highlight overlooked individuals and promote collaboration across disciplines to ensure that innovation thrives and media serves everyone.”
A Space for All Media Professionals
The festival is designed for a broad range of media professionals, from journalists and filmmakers to content creators and technologists. Organizers emphasize that the event is a unique opportunity for individuals passionate about the future of African media to engage in transformative discussions, learn from industry leaders, and contribute to shaping the media landscape.
Curating an Unforgettable Experience
The 2025 edition promises an exciting lineup of sessions, workshops, and interactive formats. Attendees can look forward to Ignite Talks, where speakers have just five minutes to present powerful, thought-provoking ideas; Demos, showcasing the latest technological innovations; and Workshops, offering hands-on learning experiences led by industry experts.
Additionally, the festival will feature Unconference Sessions, which allow participants to take the lead in guiding discussions on topics that matter most to them. These collaborative sessions offer a dynamic and flexible format for attendees to engage meaningfully with one another.
Returning to the Nairobi National Museum
The festival will once again be hosted at the Nairobi National Museum, a venue that beautifully blends Kenya’s cultural richness with modern, interactive spaces. The museum’s serene atmosphere and open design make it the perfect setting for a festival dedicated to fostering collaboration and creativity.
