In recent years, more African players have started choosing their own national teams. However, many still opt for European national teams.
According to Transfermarkt.com, the total market value of an 11-player squad made up of African-born footballers who have chosen European national teams exceeds 1 billion euros.
AFRICAN-ORIGIN SUPER SQUAD
In this hypothetical lineup, Guillaume Restes, of Ivorian descent, guards the goal with a market value of 20 million euros. The center-back duo consists of Cameroonian-origin William Saliba (80 million euros) and Malian Ibrahima Konaté (60 million euros).
At left-back, Alphonso Davies, of Liberian descent, holds a market value of 50 million euros, while right-back Jules Koundé, of Beninese origin, is valued at 60 million euros.
The midfield features two Real Madrid teammates: Cameroonian Aurélien Tchouaméni (80 million euros) and Congolese Eduardo Camavinga (70 million euros).
Arsenal’s star Bukayo Saka, of Nigerian heritage, is the third most valuable player in the squad, with a market value of 150 million euros. Young talent Lamine Yamal, with Equatorial Guinean roots, stands out as the most valuable player, worth 180 million euros.
Leading the attack, Kylian Mbappé, of Cameroonian descent, has a market value of 170 million euros, while Alexander Isak, with Eritrean heritage, is valued at 100 million euros.
AFRICA’S IMMENSE POTENTIAL
This squad is not only impressive in terms of market value but also due to its exceptional potential. With strong defense, speed, physicality, and technical ability, it resembles a world-class team.
If African players continue to choose their home countries more frequently in the future, Africa could surpass South America and Europe, establishing dominance in the FIFA World Cup over the long term.
