Al-Shabaab threatens banks and financial institutions that they will be subject to Islamic law-based action if they work with the government to collect the VAT 5% tax that Mogadishu residents have been protesting against.
Al-Shabaab also gives private Businessmen citizens until August 26 to withdraw all their money from those Banks and financial institutions.
The Spokeperson of Al-shabab Ali Dheere demanded the public to take their money out of Somali banks and cautioned them against subtracting the 5% VAT.
If banks don’t comply within a week, he vowed to take harsh measures.
In addition, he threatened businesses that took advantage of public funds and promised severe penalties.
