During the recent state visit of the Algerian President to Oman, the two governments signed eight Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) aimed at enhancing collaboration across multiple sectors.
The agreements cover a wide range of areas, including higher education, scientific research, financial services, employment and training, media, environmental sustainability, event organization, and investment promotion.
On behalf of Oman, the MoUs were signed by Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Albusaidi, Finance Minister Sultan bin Salim Al Habsi, Commerce, Industry, and Investment Promotion Minister Qais bin Mohammed Al Yousef, and Energy and Minerals Minister Engineer Salim bin Nasser Al Aufi.
Algeria was represented by Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad Minister Ahmed Attaf, Higher Education and Scientific Research Minister Kamel Baddari, Finance Minister Laaziz Fayed, Trade and Export Promotion Minister Tayeb Zitouni, Environment and Renewable Energies Minister Fazia Dahleb, and Omar Rekache, Director General of the Algerian Agency for Investment Promotion.
In a statement to the Oman News Agency, Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Albusaidi highlighted that these MoUs are part of a strategic effort to exchange expertise and focus on priority areas for cooperation. He emphasized the potential of these agreements to foster partnerships and strengthen connections between the governments and private sectors of both nations.
He expressed optimism about the future of Omani-Algerian relations, noting that mechanisms for follow-up and executive programs would be established to maximize the mutual benefits of these agreements.
Ahmed Attaf, Algeria’s Foreign Minister, also spoke on the significance of the MoUs, stating that they reflect the shared interests of both countries and expand their cooperative efforts. He stressed that the agreements concentrate on priorities that can be activated to elevate bilateral relations to new and prosperous levels.
The signing ceremony was attended by various officials from both sides, marking a significant step in deepening the collaboration between Oman and Algeria.
