President João Manuel Lourenço of Angola touched down in Muscat on Thursday, embarking on a two-day official visit to the Sultanate of Oman. The visit highlights the growing diplomatic and economic ties between the two nations and includes high-level meetings with His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik.
Upon his arrival at the Royal Private Airport, the President was warmly received by Sayyid Khalid Al Busaidi, Minister of the Royal Court, who led the welcoming party for President Lourenço, his wife, and their official delegation. Sayyid Khalid extended a heartfelt welcome to the visiting dignitaries, expressing his hopes for a productive and successful stay in Oman.
The delegation’s reception was marked by the presence of several key Omani officials, including Abdul Salam bin Mohammed Al Murshidi, President of the Oman Investment Authority, Dr. Rahma bint Ibrahim Al Mahrouqiya, Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research, and Innovation, and Dr. Said bin Mohammed Al Saqri, Minister of Economy and Head of the Honorary Mission. Angola’s non-resident Ambassador to Oman, along with other members of the Honorary Mission, were also in attendance.
During the visit, President Lourenço will engage in discussions with Sultan Haitham on enhancing economic cooperation, particularly in sectors such as energy, telecommunications, and investment. Both nations are keen to explore avenues for boosting trade, cultural exchange, and collaborative projects.
The Angolan President is accompanied by a distinguished delegation, including José de Lima Massano, Minister of Coordination of the Economy, Téte Antonio, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Vera Esperança dos Santos Daves de Sousa, Minister of Finance, Diamontino Pedro Azevedo, Minister of Mineral Resources, Gas and Oil, Mario Augusto da Silva Oliveira, Minister of Telecommunications, and Altodros Marcio Caspar da Costa, Head of the President’s Office.
This visit underscores the commitment of both countries to foster deeper ties, with a particular focus on economic and diplomatic collaboration that promises mutual benefits. It marks a significant step in Oman and Angola’s efforts to solidify their growing partnership on the global stage.
