At least 30 people have been killed and several others injured following three days of violent attacks by armed gangs in Nigeria’s north-central Benue State.
The assaults began on Saturday, targeting farmers and residents in the Logo Local Government Area and continued through Monday in the Katrine Ala Local Government Area, according to local official Justine Shaku.
Hundreds of armed men stormed the affected communities, indiscriminately opening fire on civilians at their homes and farms. Shaku described the attackers as possibly foreign, suggesting a link to neighboring Niger, though the motive for the coordinated violence remains unclear.
Investigations are underway to uncover the reasons behind the attacks, which have left communities in shock and mourning.
