Boko Haram militants launched a violent attack on Kwapre and surrounding villages in Adamawa State’s Hong Local Government Area on the night of February 25, causing massive destruction. The assault, which lasted into the early hours of the next day, saw the insurgents setting fire to places of worship, schools, homes, and businesses, stealing valuables worth millions of naira.
According to local leaders, residents managed to flee before the attack, preventing casualties. Military forces responded in the early hours, engaging the militants and forcing them to retreat. However, locals criticized the delayed response, which allowed the insurgents to inflict significant damage. Attempts to reach military officials for comments were unsuccessful at the time of reporting.
