The Burkina Faso Students’ Association organized a cultural promotion day at Istanbul Commerce University, gathering students from Burkina Faso pursuing education in Türkiye.
In her address, Hanifa Bande, President of the Burkina Faso Students’ Association, emphasized the importance of the event. She described it as an opportunity to unite, assess progress, and plan future activities. Bande stated, “This meeting is more than it seems. It is a forum for exchanging ideas, reflection, and reaffirming our commitment to continue our efforts, strengthen solidarity, and aim higher together.”
Prof. Dr. Ahmet Kavas, attending the program, underscored the significant presence of African students in Türkiye, noting that out of 350,000 international students, 60,000 are African. “Africans have contributed immensely to the world. Now, the world must serve Africa,” he remarked. He added, “You are here for Africa and for Türkiye, as you pursue your education here. We believe you hold love for both and will contribute to both our country and Africa.”
According to observations by The Wall Africa Journal, tens of thousands of African students are studying in Türkiye on scholarships. The hospitality of the Turkish people plays a significant role in their preference for Turkish universities, and this bond has the potential to strengthen ties between the Turkish people and the people of African countries.
The event concluded with awards presented to successful students, celebrating their achievements and fostering a spirit of excellence.
