The group stage of the CAF Confederations Cup kicks off today, and the tournament, which is the second most prestigious club competition in Africa after the CAF Champions League, is set to excite football fans.
In Group A, CS Sfaxien, who finished third in the Tunisian league last season, will host CS Constantine, the third-place finisher in the Algerian league. In another match of the same group, Tanzanian third-place finisher Simba will face Angola’s FC Bravos do Maquis.
In Group B, Mali’s Stade Malien will take on South African third-place finisher Stellenbosch. The other match in the group will see Angola’s CD Lunda Sul travel to face RS Berkane, who are currently leading the Moroccan league and finished third last season.
In Group C, Ivory Coast’s Mimosas will try to secure a win against Jaraaf, the current leaders of the Senegalese league. Botswana’s Orapa United will face a tough challenge away to Algerian side USM Alger.
In Group D, Egypt’s strong team Al-Masry will play against Nigeria’s Enyimba. One of the tournament favorites, Egypt’s Zamalek, will face Mozambique’s powerful team Black Bulls.
