The Tunisian Football Federation has appointed Sami Trabelsi as the head coach of the national team.
The Tunisian coach previously held this position between 2011 and 2013. He had been managing the Qatari club Al-Sailiya FC for a long time but had been without a team for the past two years. Trabelsi will now lead the Carthage Eagles in the World Cup qualifiers and AFCON 2025.
During his playing career, Trabelsi proved himself as a center-back at CS Sfaxien and was called up to the national team 77 times.
His return to the Tunisian bench raises curiosity about what he can achieve. In recent years, Tunisia has been performing below its potential, and Trabelsi aims to change that.
The experienced coach will be assisted by Hamadi Daou and Mohamed Sahli. Additionally, Wassim Moalla and Aymen Jedidi have been appointed as physical trainers for the Tunisian national team. Hichem Jaziri will serve as the goalkeeper coach, while Helmi Kechaou and Walid Ben Tamansourt will take on the role of video analysts.
Tunisia will play its first match under Trabelsi in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. The team is set to face Liberia on March 17, 2025, and Malawi on March 24, 2025.
Tunisia will enter both matches as the favorite, with expectations that the new coaching staff will secure easy victories in both encounters.
