Scottish football giant Celtic signs Jeffrey Schlupp
Celtic has signed Jeffrey Schlupp, the 32-year-old Ghanaian left-back, who will wear the green and white shirt for the remainder of the season on a loan basis.
Celtic is currently at the top of the Scottish league, and with this addition, they have strengthened their squad.
Jeffrey Schlupp began his career in England with Leicester City’s youth team before progressing to the senior squad. After a brief loan spell at Brentford, Schlupp spent six full seasons at Leicester City.
Following his long tenure at Leicester, he transferred to Crystal Palace, where he played from 2017 to the present. Over his Premier League career, Schlupp made a total of 280 appearances, contributing to the scoreline with 22 goals and 15 assists despite his defensive position.
Schlupp expressed his excitement about the transfer:
“I am really happy to join Celtic, such a massive and iconic name in football,” Schlupp told the club media.
“I have spoken to Brendan, and I am really looking forward to working with him and the lads in the squad as we aim to bring more silverware to our supporters.”
“The team has already done brilliantly this season, both domestically and in Europe, and I know I am joining a really successful team, but I want to add to this, to play my own part and help us achieve even more.”
“I can’t wait to get started, to pull on those famous green and white hoops, meet the fans and give everything I have to bring us more and more good times.”
Manager Brendan Rodgers also shared his thoughts on the signing:
“I know he will love it at Celtic, and I am sure our fans will love him and what he can bring to us.”
“He is a fantastic guy, someone with real high-level experience and with great attributes including power, pace, and versatility.”
“I know that he can be a really important addition to our squad this season.”
