In a significant step to enhance bilateral relations, Chad’s Foreign Minister, Abderaman Koulamallah, hosted Turkish Ambassador Cem Utkan for talks on Thursday aimed at expanding cooperation across multiple sectors.
During the meeting, both officials emphasized strengthening ties in areas such as trade, agriculture, energy, and cultural exchange. They explored avenues to boost economic collaboration, with a focus on encouraging Turkish investments in Chad’s growing markets. The discussions also delved into enhancing trade between the two nations, a key priority for both sides moving forward.
In addition to economic matters, the security situation in the region was a central topic of conversation. The two diplomats discussed ongoing challenges and considered opportunities for joint efforts to improve regional stability, further solidifying their commitment to mutual security.
On a solemn note, Ambassador Utkan extended Türkiye’s condolences to Chad following a deadly attack near the presidential palace in N’Djamena. The assault, which occurred on January 8, led to a violent confrontation between assailants and security forces, resulting in the deaths of 18 attackers and one government official. The attack highlighted ongoing security concerns in the region.
The Turkish Embassy in N’Djamena confirmed the meeting through a brief post on social media platform X, stating that the talks covered a wide range of bilateral issues, alongside discussions on significant international developments.
This meeting reflects the continued strengthening of diplomatic ties between Chad and Türkiye, with both nations eager to expand their collaboration on multiple fronts.
